Juicy Tidbits

Travel + Leisure says..."This sprawling beach-house-style inn looks like it was airlifted from Nantucket and dropped on the Santa Monica shore. Inside, the common areas (like the fireside lounge with chairs and sofas upholstered in seashell colors) and the 198 rooms (all with subtle blue and yellow accents, four-poster beds, walnut furniture, and custom linens) reinforce the laid-back, summer-house vibe. But there’s real luxury here too: The on-site spa offers organic body treatments by Red Flower and facials by Omorovicza, and the nautically-themed One Pico restaurant serves exceptional seafood dishes such as wild snapper with housemade cous cous ~From Travelandleisure.com.

Travel + Leisure says..."Nantucket-style shingled property, centrally located along Santa Monica Beach, that offers the perks of a luxury hotel along with a laid-back beach-house vibe.Rooms to Book: Ocean View rooms are worth the $105 upgrade for their idyllic views and proximity to the surf (you'll wake up to it every morning). The Presidential Suites have two balconies apiece and with this location, they're actually worth the hefty $3,500 price tag per night.Insider Tip: Order one of the organic tequilas, vodkas, or beers at Coast, the beachside cafe. This sprawling beach-house-style inn looks like it was airlifted from Nantucket and dropped on the Santa Monica shore. Inside, the common areas (like the fireside lounge with chairs and sofas upholstered in seashell colors) and the 198 rooms (all whitewashed wood and blue-and-white patterned upholstery, with wicker-furnished balconies) reinforce the laid-back, summer-house vibe. But there's real luxury here too: The on-site ONE spa offers decadent massages, facials, and body scrubs using Ole Henriksen products, and at the nautically-themed One Pico restaurant, chef Michael Reardon serves elegant seafood dishes like Petrale sole grilled whole with salt and bay leaves."-From www.travelandleisure.com

Juicy Tidbits

Conde Nast Traveler says..."Created from abandoned tobacco and bourbon warehouses, and doubling as a contemporary art museum with more than 9,000 square feet of exhibition space, this property has reclaimed-wood floors, hand-blocked linen upholstery, exposed brickwork and timber trusses, and glass transoms. “The art collection makes it such a fun place to stay.” “Unique and creative” guest rooms have Herman Miller chairs, high ceilings, pewter mint julep cups, Malin and Goetz bath products, and rubber ducks in bathtubs. Proof on Main’s menu is inspired by Italy and the American South, hence dishes like Marksbury Farm Bone-in Pork Chop or rye pasta carbonara, and a choice of more than 50 Kentucky bourbons, several bottled exclusively for the hotel. “It’s an incredible place for such a small city.'" ~From CondeNastTraveler.com

National Geographic Traveler says..."Contemporary art-filled boutique property behind several Main Street historic iron facades. Gallery-minimal interiors showcase rotating art exhibits. Pre-programmed iPods, mint julep cups; two rooms boast terraces. Kentucky bison, rabbit, and produce in the restaurant. 91 rooms.

"Conde Nast 2009 Gold List 2009 says..."Doubling as a contemporary art museum, this "very hip hotel" in a refurbished warehouse has exposed brickwork and original timber trusses coupled with "urban, sleek, clean lines." Rooms have 500-thread-count Egyptian cotton sheets, and rubber ducks in the baths. At Proof on Main, try country ham fritters or Kentucky bison and choose from 50 bourbons. The artwork is "cutting-edge, stimulating, thought-provokinga metaphor for the hotel itself."

Conde Nast Traveler says..."It's difficult to describe the uniqueness of this hotel," the top-scoring Gold List property in the United States. Created from abandoned tobacco and bourbon warehouses, the property features reclaimed-wood floors, hand-blocked linen upholstery, and glass transoms, "striking design that mixes old and new to stunning effect"a9,000 square feet of exhibition space are a backdrop to the revolving collection of contemporary art. Guest rooms have high ceilings, Herman Miller chairs, exposed brick walls, and silver mint julep cups. Proof on Main cooking is inspired by Italy and the American South, hence dishes like handmade tonnarelli, and sides like simmered grits; its selection of Kentucky bourbons includes some bottled exclusively for the restaurant." -From Conde Nast Traveler

Travel + Leisure says..."Louisville’s 21c ranks as a bona fide cultural institution in the making, not just a hotel with art. Designed by New York architect Deborah Berke, the 90-room property houses a multi-million dollar collection of paintings, sculptures, photos, and video installations by living artists (hence the hotel’s name, a reference to the 21st century). Most of the art comes from the personal collection of owner and philanthropist Steve Wilson and his wife, Laura Lee Brown. Occupying five 19th-century brick buildings, 21c showcases Berke’s spare-but-polished industrial style of exposed-brick walls and bead-board ceilings. Old poplar floorboards were turned into bar fronts, and recycled carpet backing became the bar’s floor. ~From Travelandleisure.com

The Lobby Bar is a very good place where you can have an apetizer or have a drink. La Bourgogne, our French International Cuisine Restaurant, offer our guests the possibiliy of enjoy lunch or dinner.

Juicy Tidbits

Travel + Leisure says..."The posh Alvear Palace Hotel, which celebrated its 80th birthday in 2012, recalls Buenos Aires’s Europhile past. Afternoon tea in the L'Orangerie restaurant combines English tradition with Argentina’s obsession for sweets (try the Alvear Cake, smothered in dulce de leche); chef Jean Paul Bondoux’s La Bourgogne serves the city’s best French cuisine (using Argentine ingredients); the design is pure Louis XV; and even the bathroom amenities are French (custom-made for the hotel by Parisian designer Hermès). A top-to-bottom 2011 remodeling dropped the room count from 210 to 191, expanding room size, adding a new Grand Suite, and installing hydromassage bathtubs and LCD TVs in the bathrooms. Service remains top-notch: a bilingual butler assists guests with everything from unpacking and ironing to drawing a bath." ~From Travelandleisure.com

Conde Nast Traveler says..."It's "class all the way" at this "old-world Belle E?Âpoque landmark" with soaring ceilings, crystal chandeliers, and Corinthian columns near Recoleta Cemetery. Built in 1932, it has rooms designed in Louis XIV and Louis XVI style, with silk drapes, Empire-style furniture, and paintings by Argentine artists. The cuisine is French at La Bourgogne, while L'Orangerie y el Jardin d'Hiver serves a breakfast buffet that's "a real treat" and afternoon tea with white-gloved waiters. The spa has a trompe l'oeil mural." ~From CondeNastTraveler.com

Juicy Tidbits

Travel + Leisure says..."Cliff-top hotel with staggering Teton views, Asian-inspired platform beds, and large soaking tubs. " ~From Travelandleisure.com

Conde Nast Traveler says..."You think you are riding up into the clouds” as you arrive at this “unmatched resort” overlooking the Snake River and the Grand Teton mountain range from its perch atop a butte. The rooms “exceed all expectations” with their deep soaking tubs, metal fireplaces, and floor-to-ceiling windows, and provide “much-needed comfort after long days spent enjoying the outdoors.” The “Zen decor” of Pacific redwood walls, Oklahoma sandstone columns, and a neutral palette gives it a “hushed but elegant feel. It integrates into the local landscape.” Try the American fare at The Grill, or gaze at the “killer views” while soaking in the quartzite-tiled outdoor pool, maintained at 80 degrees year-round. The service “makes you feel very pampered—you are not a room number, you are a VIP guest.”~From CondeNastTraveler.com
