Juicy Tidbits

Travel + Leisure says..."After much anticipation, the $300 million Ritz-Carlton Lake Tahoe opened in December 2009 at the family-friendly Northstar at Tahoe resort. The 170-room stone-and-wood lodge has a cavernous 17,000-square-foot spa with earthy treatments, such as a crushed pinecone exfoliating scrub and a cedar-oil massage; a buzzworthy restaurant, Manzanita, where San Francisco star chef Traci Des Jardins’s comfort food comes with a French twist (duck meatballs, wine-braised short ribs); and a pampering “mountain valet” who will manage your gear and escort you to the snow. ~From

Conde Nast Traveler says...“'The location can’t be beat” at this mid-mountain ski-in/ski-out hotel at Northstar-at-Tahoe ski resort. Opened in 2009, it’s set in a thick pine forest. Ski valets carry guests’ gear and escort them to the slopes, where “the skiing is fantastic. And afterward, the fireplaces in the rooms made for a nice ambience with the snow.” Rooms in modern woodsy colors have dark-brown leather armchairs, floor-to-ceiling windows, gas fireplaces, and private balconies with views of the mountain and Martis Valley. Manzanita, with its French-inspired California cuisine, is “fabulous for dinner.” At MountainBlue, the breakfasts of burritos, egg sandwiches, and fresh pastries are “so delicious." ~From
