Juicy Tidbits

Travel + Leisure says..."The hotel opened in 1992 and is made up entirely of small buildings set on a ridge high above the Pacific. In 2008 Post Ranch added 10 new sculptural structures, spiraling Pacific Suites, cantilevered Peak Houses, and Richard Serra-esque Cliff houses clad in torques of rusted steel. Staying in a Pacific Suite, wherever you stand you are exposed to the ocean and the sky but unseen by other guests. Even the tiled bath, big enough for two, has a commanding vista, and a floor-to-ceiling window that opens to let in Pacific breezes. The walls are paneled in redwood salvaged from old wine barrels and sheet metal art adorns the bathroom. Sierra Mar, the hotel restaurant will pack you a lunch to take down the Pacific Coast Highway in a Lexus convertible that guests can borrow for free. The mini-bar is complimentary, so take advantage on your balcony overlooking the ocean.~From Travelandleisure.com

Travel + Leisure says..."Two hours from San Francisco and a thousand feet above the crashing waves awaits Post Ranch Inn, a series of foliage-shrouded Tree Houses and ultra-private cottages. These 41 freestanding slate, glass, and wood accommodations feature commanding vistas of the Pacific and the Santa Lucia Mountains with floor-to-ceiling windows, private decks, wood-burning fireplaces, and luxurious indoor spa tubs. What they don’t have are TVs or clocks—a nudge to tune into your partner instead. Pick up a picnic from the resort’s Sierra Mar restaurant and cruise the coast in one of the inn’s gratis convertibles, then make your way back for a dip in the cliff-top infinity pool." ~From Travelandleisure.com

Conde Nast Traveler says..."Nothing comes close to the serenity” at this nineteenth-century homestead along a mountain ridge above the Pacific. Rooms of slate, marble, and wood are divvied up between separate buildings and are designed to complement the property’s “truly memorable” natural surroundings. “Some have grass growing on the roof”; the Cliff House has a garden courtyard and glass-walled bedroom. An “amazing meal on the cliffs looking over the Pacific” at the Sierra Mar restaurant might mean artichoke ravioli, summer truffles, or other seasonal specialties. The Jade Pool bubbles at 104 degrees year-round. “The complimentary stargazing class with a glass of wine made for a fun evening.” ~From CondeNastTraveler.com

Juicy Tidbits

Conde Nast Traveler says..."Sitting on 243 acres of meadows and wooded hillsides 1,200 feet above the Pacific, this is "a wonderful vacation in quiet and nature." The focus here is on "blissful, beautiful relaxing" in all of its facilities—the clothing-optional pool and sundeck, the Japanese hot baths, the dry sauna, and the spa. The 12-building, weathered-cedar resort was built in 1975 by writer Lawrence Spector and is "such a romantic getaway." All rooms have a deck or patio, redwood floors, glass tiles, and elements of bronze and bamboo accented by a palette of sage, rust, gold, and brown; most have wood-burning fireplaces. "We love the daily complimentary neck massages, wine, and cheese." The bistro menu focuses on local fare, including the day’s sustainable catch; the main restaurant is connected to the inn via a wooded path." ~From CondeNastTraveler.com
