Perched on an escarpment high above the winding Ayung River gorge, this luxury balinese village resort follows the design of a traditional Balinese village. Pebbled walkways link the thatched-roof suites, each of which has its own walled garden. Amandari provides a unique setting from which to experience the cultural richness of Bali’s artistic centre as well as its mountainous region to the north.

Juicy Tidbits

Conde Nast Traveler says..."Set in a valley of palms and rice terraces, the resort has river-stone walkways that connect perfect-scoring thatch-roof suites, each fronted with a Balinese-style gateway and embellished with handwoven batiks and local teak. "I adored the bathagreat products in unlimited amounts." Breakfast is "perfectaI wanted to order the entire menu." Staying here "spoils you for any other hotel." -From Conde Nast Traveler

Conde Nast Traveler says..."Views of the rice terraces of the Ayung River Gorge are part of the magic at this "beautiful property" designed as a Balinese village, whose name translates to "peaceful spirits." "Expect to be impressed by the accommodations," free-standing thatched-roof suites with glass on three sides, private gardens, and Balinese stone gateways. Interiors showcase teak and marble; outdoor tubs are surrounded by ferns and heliconia; and suites are reached by river-stone walkways. "Friendly staff offer fabulous service," and the restaurant dishes up both Western and Indonesian cuisine: chicken breast with gnocchi, Sulawesi grilled fish, and Sumatran duck leg." ~From www.cntraveler.com

This hotel says...

Aesthetically, the resort sits in harmony with it*s environment. The buildings have low rooflines that converge with the landscape, embracing lakes, ponds and an oceanfront setting that includes low rocky headlands and a sweeping white sand beach. Entry tot he hotel is through a large reception pavillion that opens onto a grand formal reflecting pond that is landscaped with mature trees. All 40 timber shingled pavillions are identical in layout and design and fall into three categories based on their location and views. The pavilions are identical in layout and design and fall into three categories based on their locations and views. The pavilions are of contemporary design wit a dramatic overhanging roofline that creates shaded outdoor areas on the three terraces. Large glass doors can be opened on three sides to catch the cooling sea breezes. Located on the Northwest point on the island of Providenciales or Provo as it is locally referred to, Amanyara(peaceful place) is nestled on the tip of a 2025 hectre nature and wildlife reserve, with the widely-acclaimed reefs of the Northwest Point Marine Park offshore. The resort's isolated position is pristine and its beauty and tranquility is well removed from much of the development of the island. Transfer to the resort is along a narrow coastal road that rises to a hill and then falls away into a flat plain covered with native bush and stunted trees.

Juicy Tidbits

Conde Nast Traveler says..."Set on the scrubby land of Providenciales's Northwest Point Marine National Park, this seven-year-old resort is "a dream come true." Gazebos made of Indonesian woods are clustered around the central reflecting pool, while resort buildings have shingle roofs. Airy pavilions feature terrazzo floors with teak inlay and have three glass walls that slide open onto terraces with daybeds and sunken dining areas—"they bring a touch of modernity to the islands." The resort's Nature Discovery Center employs a full-time naturalist. Asian and Mediterranean dishes are on the menu at the main restaurant; the Beach Club does grilled fare." ~From CondeNastTraveler.com

Conde Nast Traveler says..."Signature dish: Lobster and cherry tomatoes in yellow curry ($67). Don't miss: Breakfast and dinner are included if you book a pavilion or villa for four nights—a significant savings. (Entrées from $41)" ~From cntraveler.com
