Acacia & Mara Houses:
Acacia and Mara Houses are located in a secluded valley in the Mara North Conservancy. Mara House has three ensuite bedrooms while Acacia House has one double en suite bedroom with 2 twin bedrooms sharing one bathroom. Both houses have large verandas overlooking a waterhole frequented by a vast array of wildlife and birdlife, and share a swimming pool. The houses are well spaced so that apart from at the pool there is no interaction with each other. You cannot see either house from the pool.
A secluded valley in the north of the Mara North Conservancy offers total privacy from the rest of the Mara but with easy access either to the escarpment or the open plains, both within 15 mins from the front door. The area has long been known for the lush bush forest which attracts a wide array of game including plentiful leopard and easy access to genuine communities who have long been partners in managing this area. The slightly higher altitude brings a cooler, fresher and generally quieter experience than the vast majority of this ecosystem.
A fully qualified safari guide and vehicle will be on hand to assist with a wide range of activities which include walking, day or night game drives and visits to local villages and trading centres. Game viewing is done both in the game reserve (extra park fees) and in the conservancy and so offering a wide range of safari experiences.
Topi House borders the Olare Orok Conservancy and the Masai Mara Reserve, although game drives are only included in the Mara. The house has three ensuite bedrooms and enjoys some of the finest Mara views and game viewing. There is no pool at Topi House.
Topi House sits on the border of the Marai Mara Reserve and Olare Orok Conservancy which is widley regarded at the big game axis. Most activities are conducted in the reserve but with the benefit that when the day is done one can retreat back to the peace of the conservancy.
A fully qualified guide and vehicle will be on hand to assist with a wide range of safari activities which can include game drives and visits to local villages and trading centres. Game viewing is done primarily in the reserve and can be arranged in the conservancy (extra cost), so offering a wide range of experiences.

Your stay at the Mara Bush Houses not only immerses you in a unique safari experience. It will also make a genuine impact. Asilia plays a leading role in setting up effective area management, supporting conservation projects and contributing to a better future for local Kenyans.
Our goal as Asilia is to be a role model in sustainable tourism. At the heart of our organisation is the conviction that world-class travel can go hand in hand with improving livelihoods and conservation of nature. We strive to create a lasting, positive impact everywhere we operate. We believe in better.
Any sustainable contribution must ultimately begin with oneself. This means we buy locally where possible. It means we reduce our footprint by limiting fossil fuel and use sustainable energy sources such as the sun, recycling water and reducing waste. The remainder of our carbon footprint is offset by supporting local forest projects.
Asilia is proud to be the first travel company in Africa to achieve the highest 5 star GIIRS rating and B-Corporation status. And yet, we trust we do even more. By being creative and developing new models for travel we try to further increase benefits for nature and local people. The Mara Bush Houses showcase this collaborative approach.
POSITIVE IMPACT AT THE MARA BUSH HOUSES
Situated within the 70,000 acre Mara North Conservancy, the Mara Bush Houses work with 11 tourism partners’ camps to combine travel and community development.
The conservancy fees provide the Maasai community with a sustainable livelihood and ensure the conservation of the wildlife in this vital corridor of the Masai Mara ecosystem. In addition to the conservancy’s role in conservation it also provides steady and sustainable employment leading to an improved standard of living for the community as a whole. Furthermore it offers additional benefits like health care, clean energy and empowerment of the local people through education and skills training.
Looking further into the future, Asilia is one of the driving forces behind the initiative towards the formation of an umbrella organisation. By linking all Mara Conservancies, the prospects for this crucial cultural and natural area will greatly improve.
Some of our other actions in the Mara include:
* Supporting the Mara Naboisho Lion Project which aims reduce lion/human conflict through improved understanding of lion behavioural patterns.
* The conservancy revolves around the Koiyaki Guiding School which annually trains over 20 local Maasai to become professional guides.
* Naboisho and its guests support the local community, by donating books and equipment through the Pack for a Purpose initiative. Please visit their website if you would like to know more about this initiative and how you can contribute.
Acacia & Mara House are accessed from Ngerende Airstrip in the Mara North Conservancy where it is a 40 min transfer to the houses, and Topi House from Ol Kiombo in the Mara Game Reserve where it is also a 40 minuite drive to the house.
